The two-day conference organised as a closing event of the GreenKeys Project offered a
forum for academics, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, young professionals to reflect
critically on relevant aspects for the future of cities and urban green spaces. 150 participants
from 18 different countries attended to interesting presentations and participated in exciting
debates with a common concern: green spaces and their role in cities where our children
will live. Besides the 6 keynote speeches and the presentations of the GreenKeys outcomes
29 papers selected from the submitted 68 were presented and discussed in parallel sessions.
The International Conference was organised under the auspices of the GreenKeys project
together with the Municipality of Sofia. Besides discussing results achieved by GreenKeys our
intention was to create a forum for ideas and debates regarding the future of urban green
spaces and urban development for policy makers, practitioners, planers and researchers.

Debate Arenas offered space for presenting papers and debating special interesting topics
in small groups. The arenas were platform for people involved in urban and green spaces
design, development, policies and strategies to exchange their knowledge, expand their
network, to present and discuss their ideas.

Study Tours sampled a cross-section of the diverse types of green and open spaces in Sofia. These study tours have been integral parts of the conference.
